As you know, last week weekend Keegan and I went on a trip to Montego Bay, Jamaica. We spent most of our time on a tropical island off the tropical island. Tough life, I know.
On our second full day of the trip, Keegan made it a day to remember. Let me walk you through it…
On Monday afternoon, Keegan let me know he made our dinner reservations for the next evening at a seafood restaurant that I was very excited to try.
When Tuesday evening, a bit before 6:00 p.m., rolls around, he and I started walking to what I thought was the restaurant. During our beachfront walk, the sun was beginning to set, and I could see a decorated gazebo in the distance.
“There must be a wedding going on tonight, hun!” I said to Keegan. There had been a number of weddings that week, so I thought nothing of it.
“Uh huh. Probably!” he said.
As we more closely approached the gazebo, I could see it was decorated in candles, lights, flower, and lace.
“Actually, babe,” Keegan began, “I have surprise for you. We’re going to have a private dinner here tonight.”
My jaw dropped.
When we walked up the dock to get to the gazebo, Keegan introduced me to our private waiter for the evening. (No joke!) He took our drink orders and put some romantic music on.
After appetizers and a delicious entree, the waiter walked up the dock with our desserts. As he approached me, he was holding a plate in front of him.
The waiter looked at me and said with a large grin, “We have a surprise for you!”
Keegan knelt down on one knee as the waiter put the plate down in front of me. As I read the plate, Keegan also said the words…
I started crying, laughing, and screaming practically simultaneously (a truly lovely noise) and said “YES!”
And here is the ring:
Keegan knew I wanted an emerald as the center stone, but he truly outdid himself.
For the next hour we celebrated and he told me all about how he asked my dad and what went into creating this specific ring. We laughed, I cried, and we had to pinch ourselves to believe this magical moment truly happened!
We finally went back to our room to call our parents and tell them the amazing news!
When I opened the door, I saw Keegan had somehow managed to outdo himself. He had the room covered in rose petals and champagne chilled waiting for us.
Tuesday, February 5, 2013 was the most romantic, memorable night of my life. It was the first day of the rest of our lives together!
